Today's reading: Acts 6:1-7
In the early church, widows, at one point, were being neglected. At this time in history, women didn't look after themselves, especially not widows. They often went to live with other family members.
Since the apostles were busy ministering the Word of God, they appointed spiritually mature men to ensure that the widows were properly cared for.
In today's church, we have many areas of ministry that need to be filled. Scripture tells us to fill those positions with the spiritually mature. We all need the Lord's guidance in every part of our lives, including the ministry.
