Today's Reading: Matthew 7:21-23
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven."
This one verse of Scripture is perhaps the most convicting for Christians. We often focus on "witnessing" but fail to recognize the necessity of obedience. God didn't allow His son to be crucified, for us to have a free license to sin. Jesus died so we could be free from sin, and walk in a loving relationship with Him and His Father.
Does that mean we have to be perfect? If it did, then none of us would see Heaven. Verse 23 speaks of those who "practice lawlessness." This refers to people who willingly live in sin. Our best is never good enough for God's glory, so we are expected to surrender and allow Him to work through us.
God bless.
