Thursday

Devotional for 3rd week of Feb. 2008

Reading: Luke 12:16-21

Some people have a strange idea of what it means to be rich. Let's take the rich man of the parable. To him, wealth was the accumulation of goods. He wanted to build bigger barns to store his grain.

I believe God views wealth in a different light. As He blesses us, He expects us to bless others. Our Heavenly Father doesn't cause "our cup to run over" just so we can have wet floors! Out of our abundance should come our extra offering to God, given with a glad heart.

Please feel free to respond, and God bless.

Wednesday

Devotional for 2nd week of February 2008

This week's reading is in Leviticus, chapters 4-19.

Our God is very precise. Just look at the world around you, the order of nature is evidence that He works with precision. And He expects us to do the same.

That was one of the common failings of the Jews. God gave them precise instructions on the design of the Tabernacle, the Ark of the Covenant, and the order of sacrifices. To obey meant to follow His instructions to the letter, and that's where they got in trouble.

You and I are much the same. We fail God when we aren't instantly and precisely obedient. His plan for us has been perfectly constructed, and requires our complete obedience if we truly want to fulfill our service to Him.

Please feel free to respond, and God bless.

Friday

Devotional - Jan. 29

I am so sorry. I intended to make this a daily devotional for the church family, to see what I have been reading daily in God's word. However, due to time restraints, I haven't had time to publish it nightly, or even the next morning.

So I am having to change the format. Every Wednesday, I will be publishing my weekly thoughts and scriptures that I intend to read. This will give everyone a chance to study on their own, and it is much easier to commit to my agenda.

This week I am reading in Leviticus, beginning with Chapter 4. The Levitical system has also been interesting to me, and I'd love to have a clearer picture of the traditions of the Israelities.

God bless, and please share what God has given you.
